CMM’s traditionally have been built to last, and with most of them using air bearings as guide ways, there is very little wear and tear. When a machine frame is well serviced its life can easily be extended beyond 20 years in some cases.
The same cannot be said for certain mechanical and electrical parts however, and through Hexagons Upgrades services it is possible to retrofit a machine to run with the latest electronics and software.
Reasons why a machine may need a full retrofit:
- Controller and electronic parts become obsolete
- Scales & reader head may become damaged
- Newer motors not compatible with old electronics
- Require compatibility with other Metrology Equipment
There are different levels of retrofit available dependant on the machine type and requirements. Typical retrofits will include some items from the following.
- New latest generation CMM controller.
- New scales and reader heads
- New probe heads and sensors
- New Computer systems
- Latest versions of operating software (PC-DMIS)
We are able to retrofit almost any CMM to run the latest electronics and software, along with hexagon “group” products we can also retrofit Mitutoyo, LK, METRIS, Zeiss, Kemco, Renault, Steiflemeyer, Crown Windley, itp, Wenzel,Eley Metrology, IMS/Ferranti and Faro |
